Alicia Drake

Case Study: Alicia Drake

Included: Web design, branding, photography and SEO

Alicia is the author of The Beautiful Fall, a book of narrative nonfiction about Paris fashion and creativity in the 1970s and more recently published her first novel I love you too much.  She is now working on her second novel.

Like me, Alicia is relatively new to the Oxfordshire countryside and it’s now a huge part of her life as she writes from her home office. She already had a website made for her when her first novel was published, but it used the same branding as the book. Alicia wanted a website that first and foremost represented herself as an author, resulting in a place wherein all of her writings could live in harmony with one another.

And so, she set me on the most amazing assignment of capturing the imagery she’s inspired by in her daily life: from the photographs that decorate the desk from which she writes, to the rushes that she sees when taking her dogs for their walks.

I also got to meet her pets (including one super friendly rescue sheep) which I may have gotten a bit over-excited about when photographing. In the end, we used a combination of the photos I’d taken and her own personal photos from her iPhone, so you’ll see a mix when you visit the site.
