Case Study: Imogen Matthews
Included: Web design, branding, interview, copywriting, photography and SEO
Imogen Matthews is a skilled beauty industry commentator, with a long career working in the beauty industry. Her former website’s main purpose was to promote and sell her yearly in depth report on the beauty industry, the Premium Market Report, however she has recently turned her premium beauty expertise to organising beauty events.
Imogen wanted a website that was less corporate and more personal. We started by refreshing her headshots from corporate photos taken in front of a white backdrop, to more casual photos of her taken in her house and garden where she usually works from. As with all of my shoots, Imogen received a full bank of photos, which she is using all around the world wide web. Imogen was in charge of styling, which I always find makes people more relaxed in photoshoots, but is also a good indication of what people want from their branding.
It was clear that Imogen loved blues and purples, so we continued using this colour scheme throughout her website, refreshing her logo in the process. Her twitter header images is of a lavender field, an ingredient she loves in premium beauty products, so we decided to use a range of organic premium beauty ingredients as backgrounds to the pages. I found some stock imagery on splash of clementines and chamomile to go with the lavender that is found throughout her website.
Wordpress to Squarespace blog migration
It was important to keep all of the former content from Imogen’s former site, so we had to do a Wordpress to Squarespace migration, which Squarespace luckily makes super easy! Bar a few stylistic tweaks, all blog posts were copied over exactly how they were on the former site.
